Find your support circle
Know that you’re going to feel a lot of emotions. Feeling alone is inevitable, but remember there are many who are in a similar situation. Having a support system can be life changing. Be aware of communication strategies and tools
Clear and simple language is often helpful, but if you’re struggling to communicate about the diagnosis, there are many speech and communication methods you can adopt. Stay up to date on the different strategies and tools that are available, which can go beyond speech, such as body language.
Don’t underestimate the value of self-care
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself and take some time to do things you enjoy, whether big or small, such as watching an episode of your favorite show or reading a book.
